Mondays At Racine Documentary Poster

Mondays at Racine is a non-profit organization located in a salon in Islip, NY where every Monday they provide free beauty and wellness services to men and women diagnosed with cancer.

Anyone who has gone through cancer treatments can attest to the fact that one of the hardest parts is getting used to looking in the mirror. Everything changes: your complexion, your hair and nails, your eyelashes and eyebrows. Sometimes, you look sicker than you actually feel.

At Mondays at Racine, guests are treated to services specifically designed to help minimize the side effects of cancer treatments. Guests learn from specially trained and licensed therapists and cosmetologists how to minimize the cosmetic side effects of cancer often with dramatic results. This marked improvement in their appearance makes their self-confidence and self-image soar, which empowers a return to normal activities. Many are able to rejoin the workforce much sooner than without these services.

The life-changing impact that Mondays at Racine has on cancer patients was captured on film in an award-winning HBO documentary in 2013 that won the hearts and minds of America.

With more than 1,800 new cancer cases diagnosed every month on Long Island, it is imperative that these complimentary services become available at multiple salons.

Your support will provide the resources needed for Mondays at Racine to expand this vital program. By educating, training and supporting salons and spas across Long Island, people in need of these services will be able to get through being diagnosed with cancer in a more effective way.
